Minimalistic Movement (MM)

Our lives throughout history have been taken by beliefs and superstitions. We have always been taught what to believe and to look for answers outside ourselves. It is commonly presumed that the source of all existence lies out there, hence we are used to looking in all directions in search of the divine. What we do not realize, however, is that the answers we are looking for cannot be found but from within ourselves. It is only from within that we may truly meet the divine, as it is our inner Being that has been sustaining us ever since the fetal stage.

When we are born, our perception in life does not start from our intellectual intelligence but from our physical intelligence. A child grows not according to its cognitive intelligence but rather from the intelligence residing in the body. This growth of the child happens slowly, continuously, and indefinitely. As it enters the stage of adolescence and eventually into adulthood, other variables come into play.

Some of these variables are nourishing to our growth, while some others are deviating from our natural potential growth. In the process of this change, our attention starts to be directed outwards whilst unknowingly neglecting our innermost traits and inherent individuality. Our mind starts to become fragmented due to the complexity of the conditioned social environment. In this process, we become less and less conscious of our bodily-intelligence that has always been carrying us in our life journey. This shift itself is inorganic and not in tune with Nature’s flow.

As a result, we have become insensitive to that which is most essential. Our body is the medium through which we recognize and interact with the world around us. The intelligence that resides in the body is pulsating with life and is not different than the intelligence that governs the universe. The human body, in its original healthy nature, is in full harmony with the cosmos. The intelligence that governs it works independently from our ego-mind. When we are fully asleep, all the vital organs maintain the healthy functioning of the body without any interference from our side. The body in its own nature is always wholesome, alive, and present. The Siddhas give due importance to the body and embrace it as the most natural and organic path to reconnect with our inner Being.

In the Minimalistic Movement practices, Siddha Pal Pandian guides us on how to reawaken and cultivate sensitivity to our innermost Being by first becoming more in touch with our bodies through certain physical minute movements. Our conditioned mind that is programmed to constantly pursue and acquire things, is redirected inwards by re-establishing our connection to our inner livingness. The more we become wholesome through bodily participatory perception, the more we begin to have a clearer understanding of our true purpose and start achieving our innermost potential.
